The first eco-friendly rigid plastic packaging for sustainable paints

 

With the launch of a new range of paints under the TOLLENS brand, MATERIS PAINTS is innovating in two different ways. Even more eco-friendly in their composition, these paints are also the first in the world to be marketed in biobased plastic packaging.

Being one of the European industry leaders within injection moulded plastic packaging, we worked at RPC Superfos on the use of a specific GAIALENE® grade fort thin wall injection . This work has been finalized with  the development of eco-friendly pails for MATERIS PAINTS. These new packaging have the same mechanical properties to conventional references in polypropylene. They have the advantages of using  resources which are available and renewable each year.

Several years' development have been necessary from the idea to the final completion of this new packaging. This development is a great success. It is the result of a unique partnership between three innovative companies, expert in their respective fields. It is also the fruit of an ongoing mutual trust throughout the entire project. Communication on objectives and results and full transparency were also a key of this success.

Bio-based, skin-touch screw caps with GAIALENE®

 

In response to growing demands from consumers, cosmetic products are increasingly based on natural products. Due to this evolution, more and more cosmetic companies are looking for the right packaging, more eco-friendly and made from renewable resources instead of finite fossil resources.

Well known as cosmetic and pharmaceutical supplier, Ruba Thermoplast (Zuzgen-Switzerland) has recently announced that it has developed a bio-based version of its wide range of screw caps dedicated to face and body care tubes.

We have chosen a GAIALENE® grade. This resin is well designed for our needs. It allows getting nice caps for a full range of forms, colors and finishing. Moreover, our bio-based caps have a reduced carbon footprint and can be produced at an attractive price.

Our bio-based range is now available with various finishes and in different versions for sustainable and eco-friendly packaging.

The Gobi Bottle

GOBILAB uses Gaïalene® plant-based resin for the coloured tags of its range of Gobi bottles.

 

Our goal was to raise societal awareness of environmental issues by offering sustainable alternatives to traditional products. Our friendly Gobi bottle can replace hundreds of single-use polystyrene plastic cups or hundreds of conventional water bottles used every year. This bottle used on a daily basis, save wastes and costs in companies or at home. Every day we are looking for innovations having the lowest impact on the environment. This is why we have chosen  for the coloured tag of our Gobi bottles to replace the original fossil based TPU with Gaïalene®. This resin has a very interesting ecological profile allowing a massive carbon footprint reduction compared to TPU. We could not choose a better option!

One hundred years ago at Petitcollin a new type of toy was born. It would progressively revolutionize the doll market. To celebrate its hundredth birthday, Petitcollin has decided to make it from an alternative plastic material.

The Eco-baby doll is made in France and wears clothes made from organic cotton grown without pesticides. For the body, our company chose GAIALENE® because this plastic is plant-based and uses local renewable resources.

Innovative and environmentally friendly plant-based soles thanks to GAÏALENE®

 

SOUTS, French brand, aims to design, produce and sell original shoes manufactured in Dordogne region (France). These shoes will be made with alternative materials from local renewable resources for a better respect of the environment and for consumer welfare.

A partnership was established with ROQUETTE. SOUTS uses for its new soles a formulation based on the plant-based resins GAÏALENE®, developed by Roquette. This material is an eco-friendly alternative to oil-based materials.
SOUTS wants to innovate to expand its business and to access new markets combining the quest for solutions that respect both consumer and the environment with products made in France.

GREEN TEFABLOC® with GAÏALENE® by CTS

 

The GREEN TEFABLOC® programme we launched almost two years ago has now entered its marketing phase.

During the first phase, the programme focused on substituting materials from various origins for non renewable constituent ones. Today, it offers formulas including state-of-the-art plant-based polymers and GAÏALENE® resins developed by Roquette.

By combining the existing green solutions in the same formula can reach a ratio of green materials greater than 50 per cent. GREEN TEFABLOC® represents an alternative to standard solutions in the TEFABLOC® range, and can be used in applications such as grips, furniture parts, as well for technical uses such as seals for the car industry.

The SOMATER CONDITIONNEMENTS company has been manufacturing for 30 years now for the pharmaceutical, cosmetics and food industries. Loyal to our commitment to propose a global offer of packaging solutions, we pay great attention to the development in the plastics industry.

Gaïalene®-based thermoplastic specialties

 

AD MAJORIS manufactures thermoplastic specialties for the injection and extrusion sectors. GOHE FASHION ACCESSORIES is a company specializing in mid-range and top-of-the-range hangers. Since its establishment, its strategy has been based on premium design and bringing the production as close to the user’s site as possible.

Our company has always had recycling in mind when making hangers. Thanks to our close cooperation with the ROQUETTE group and its plant-based resin GAÏALENE®, we have launched a range called "135", which stands for 100% recyclable and 35% plant-based.

Nowadays, most of the 20 million hangers which are produced every day over the world are made of polystyrene and end up as waste.
